Do you ever think about what genderbent you would look like
I wish I could just travel the world with my closest friends starting in a cute bus exploring the US. Imagine how free you’d feel knowing you’re the farthest from home you’ve ever been and you’re completely independent with the people that you love. And imagine all the things you could do that you couldn’t freely do when you were stuck in one place. I never did like being stuck in one place for a long while.
this would be perfect
i kinda really would want to travel like this
I want people who want to be hippies with me. How great would this be, just raise money and go everywhere during the summer?
This would seriously be the best cross country convention caravan. This is what was talking about the other day, Erika.
i am completely dead serious about people doing this with me okay
You have no idea how much I want this to be my life. Seriously. This is my dream. I wish we didn’t have to have money and could just barter and trade and just be happy together and yes I actually am a bit of a hippie deep down. Just.
road trip au for me and dee
aw yah
Road Trip AU: an alternate universe of our lives (Smo’s and mine) in which both genders of us - yes, that’s right, our real selves and our manselves - go on a road trip/band tour immediately after graduating high school. A bunch of other kids go too, with Kody (Smo’s manself) leading the giant group of crazy teens from drama club and show choir and band and practically anything and everything else on a big trip around the States to play music.
Parts of the group slowly chip off and head back home, leaving these four Improbable Creatures (a name that started out belonging to everyone but quickly came to belong to the main 4 alone) to their own devices. The story starts just after the beginning of the tour and switches between each of the four perspectives, each stream of consciousness.
Top left: Payton, my manself.
Bottom left: DeAnna, obviously me. I probably could have chosen a different name, but I saw no need, and I ain’t even bovvered.
Bottom middle: Lola, or Smo.
Three of the right: Kody, Smo’s manself. She was experimenting with his hair. Note: I find his long hair fitting since Smo’s is so short.
Posted about this on BND last week here.
Any questions?
Smo and I are (semi)currently working on an AU of our lives in which we just throw everything up in the air and forget college and forget responsibility and go on a big road trip. That’s the feelings that inspired it, anyway. The actual route we’re taking has a bit more to it. It takes place within the world where our real selves (as we imagine ourselves, I mean) and our genderbent selves (Smo, or Lola = Kody; myself, or Dee [yeah, I didn’t change my name, whatever] = Payton) meet…and fall in love*. An AU of an AU of an AU (obligatory “if you will”).
Anyway, in this “Road Trip AU,” as we tend to call it, our (musically talented) selves, manselves, and friends go on a big road trip/band tour immediately after graduating high school. I would much like to know if any of you would be interested in reading this (I realize this is a lot to ask, but hey, it could happen, right? Anything is possible.), because I’ve actually started writing on it instead of just brainstorming and making notes for awhile and then sticking it back in the secrecy of my documents folder. Let me know how you feel. Love you all, thanks.
*Selfcest, we know, but we couldn’t help it. We originally made a genderbent AU of our lives, and we accidentally(?) made our manselves, uh, supermegafoxyhotsexyfine. So we seriously couldn’t resist making an AU of that AU where our real (as I said earlier, as we imagine ourselves) selves fall in love with our supermegafoxyhotsexyfine manselves.
-Dee
I mostly just said all that to say that this song is sort of my personal theme song for the AU, with Dee on lead vocals, Lola and the boys singing backup, and the boys playing their instruments (Payton plays piano, Kody guitar). I loved the original for them singing riding down the road, goofing off, but this acoustic version just really feels like them as a seasoned band, maybe after the rest of the gang has moved on, happily going on with their sporadic musical dreams, maybe even a few years later, because that’s the kind of people they are.
Here’s the song, for your convenience.
I’m not begging you to listen to it and being super pushy and obnoxious and in-your-face and rude and trying to force my world upon you. I don’t know what you’re talking about.

text to kody
- from payton: have you texted her back at all yet?
- she's going to think you don't want to talk to her
- at least say what's up
- she's a girl
- she'll talk if you ask what's up
- at least a little
- then maybe she'll say "you?"
- and so you tell her what you're doing
- and be honest
- if you say you're sculpting your finely tuned muscles, I can guarantee she won't believe you
- no offense
