It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger, they were. And sometimes you didn't want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something.

I have this headcanon where Steve’s son his born with his original health maladies and wants to grow up to be just like his dad - and Steve is confronted with all these feelings of inadequacy as a father because he realizes his son can’t grow up to be like him. But no kid will probably ever be better protected from bullies, considering who all his uncles are. It’s probably just a matter of time before Uncle Tony builds him some really sweet replacement braces (“Should they have spinning rims? I feel like they should have spinning rims.”)

When they found Cap in the ice, everyone at SHIELD was excited to see how Coulson would react. No one expected him to pull out his mobile phone and call his mother, of all people.

But after so long, Phil thought that Peggy Carter-Coulson deserved to know.

No matter how much you claimed to love me, you couldn’t have a frostgiant sitting on the throne of Asgard!

So notice that even AFTER their huge fight and even AFTER Loki finds out he’s adopted and he’s actually a different species and Odin basically sucks at parenting… even after all that, when Odin’s down for the count, Loki freaks right out and calls for help.

Because he still wants to be his Father’s son, even if he isn’t biologically.

don’t forget when he kills Laufey, he says “and your death came by the son of Odin.”

He still considered himself Odin’s son at that point.

And even after his fall, he still introduces himself as “Loki of Asgard”. In addition to that, he never says anything like “you’re not my brother”, just “I’m not your brother” as in he never actually disowns any of his family members, just himself.

Just thought I’d throw that out there.

welp, im crying again

S: For someone who claims to hate all of mankind, it’s interesting to see just how human you really are.

3. It was a calm day in Avengers Tower. Everyone was off doing their own thing. Steve sat at the table reading today’s newspaper. Tony insisted that Steve use one of his computers, but Steve just wasn’t quite used to the Internet yet. All was quiet and normal until Steve quickly stood and left the room in tears, the paper still lying on the table. Everyone looked at each other, trying to figure out what was wrong. Natasha glanced over at the paper. He had stopped at the Obituaries page. “Peggy Carter Larsen: June 6, 1919 - May 26, 2012”
